Description: Come join us for a basketball shoot-out with a Thanksgiving twist. Parent/child teams will compete in a free-throw contest with the winning team in each age bracket going home with a full sized turkey! Don’t miss out on the chance to win what will surely be the centerpiece of your Thanksgiving feast. Each parent and each child will shoot 10 free-throws to tally up a final score. A parent may enter with more than one child.

Event: Passport to Morton Grove - NEW

Description: Come celebrate the different cultures that make Morton Grove unique. This event will be filled with entertainment, crafts and activities that will open your eyes to different regions of the world. No need to bring your passport for entry, we will provide you with one.
Event: Holiday Train Ride
Date: December 7, 2013
Time: 5:30pm - 7:15pm
Description: Travel along with the Morton Grove Park District as we venture on our annual Holiday Train Ride. Santa will await your arrival at the North Pole and will enjoy us aboard the train for milk and cookies. Due to the popularity of the event, a lottery for MORTON GROVE RESIDENTS will be used to process registration.
Lottery Rules and Procedures;
1. The Park District will accept lottery applicants from
November 4th - 17th. You must apply in person and show proof of residency (Driver’s license AND copy of a current utility bill).
2. There will be a limit of 4 tickets per applicant. One applicant per address will be entered into the lottery.
3. Lottery will be drawn on November 18 and selected applicants will then be notified by November 19. Applicants will have 1 week to come into the Park District and pay for tickets.
4. Cost will be $12 per ticket (book not included).
5. If an applicant fails to come in and pay by November 24, then the next name on the list will be called.
If you would like a copy of the Polar Express book you can
purchase one from the Park District for only $15.

Event: Polarpalooza - NEW

Oh the weather outside is frightful, but that doesn’t stop the Morton Grove Park District from having a good time out at Harrer Park Shelter. This evening will be filled with:
games/activities, music,candy cane hunt, refreshments, Visit with Santa and other surprises!
Santa will arrive around 7:00pm. Hope you will join us for this magical night!

Holiday Coat Drive:The Park District will be holding a coat drive at this event. Please help those in need and bring a gently used or new coat with you to Polarpalooza.
Event: Letters to Santa
Dates: Deadline to send your letter in is December 18th.
Description: It’s time to mail your letter to Santa and let him know how good you have been this year and what you are hoping for under the tree on Christmas morning. Be sure to mail your letter off by Wednesday, December 18 so Santa has plenty of time to reply during his busiest time of the year. Event: Calls from the North Pole - NEW

Description: Santa is checking his list to see if you’ve been naughty or nice. Those who have made the nice list will receive a personal phone call from Santa and his Elves. Applications are available at the Prairie View Community Center or on-line at www.mortongroveparks.com. Applications are due by December 9. Since Santa and his helpers are very busy during this time of year, they are available to call this night only.
Event: Father Daughter Dance

Description: Every winter the park district offers a special night for Dads and their daughter(s). You and your date can get dressed up and join us for a night of dancing. Our D.J. will play a wide variety of songs along with organizing some fun games throughout the evening. Snacks and refreshments will be served. You will also receive a special photo momento to take home at the end of the evening. This event is geared for girls ages 5+Yrs and should be accompanied by a male adult. Event: Eggstravaganza Egg Hunt

Description: Children ages 3-10, join the Spring Bunny as you hunt for eggs in Prairie View Park. The hunt is divided into three age categories: 3-4 years, 5-7 years and 8-10 years old. All ages are to report to the tennis courts by 11:00am. Children must be accompanied by a parent. Please provide your own basket. Morton Grove residents only. Small toys and candy are contained in the eggs. Parental discretion is advised. This is a free event will be held at Prairie View Park. In case of inclement weather, the event will be held inside the Prairie View Community Center.
Event: Prairie View 5K Run/Walk

Description: Runners and walkers of all ages can enjoy this USATF Certified Course (IL-01109-JW). Check-in is at 6:45am. T-shirts will be guaranteed to all pre-registered participants. All participants receive entry into post race food tent. The 5K Run starts at 8:05am. Awards will be given to the 3 top in each category and overall top male and female finishers. The 5K Walk starts at 8:10am. This is a non-competitive walk and all walk participants will receive a number and participation medal. Registration is now available on-line.

In addition to delicious main courses, Niles Dairy Queen will be our Premier Dessert Vendor at all summer concerts. Bring your family, bring your friends and stake out a great spot on the grass with your blanket or lawnchair for 7 evenings of outstanding family friendly fun! Visit our hidden gem parks this summer for a frosty treat and some fun in the sun! We will have three FREE family events at the listed neighborhood parks. Each “Party In The Park” will run from 6:00-7:30 p.m. There will be a variety of activities for you and your family to enjoy! The park district staff will also be serving free ice cream cones from 6pm - 7pm. These pocket parks are neighborhood secrets to be shared. In case of inclement weather, these events will be cancelled.

Description: Get dressed up and join the Morton Grove Park District at the annual Halloween Family Festival. Children ages 3-12 will be able to participate in a variety of Halloween activities at Prairie View Community Center, 6834 Dempster Street. Festival activities may include: Carnival games and attractions, prizes, refreshments, Hay Ride, Crafts and Entertainment. Culvers will also be on hand this year selling frozen custard.
