Santa Comes to Town

Santa will be riding through the streets of Morton Grove on the first or second Sunday of December beginning at 12 noon passing out candy to all good little girls and boys. Information can be found in our Winter Brochure posted on this web site.

Letters to Santa

When Christmas comes, Santa needs to know who has been naughty and nice. Kids can write a letter to Santa to let him know how good you have been and what you are hoping for under the tree on Christmas morning. One of Santas elves will be picking up the letters sometime in December. Please mail your letter (and include a self-addressed envelope) to:

Polar Express

Travel along with the Morton Grove Park District as we venture on a memorable Metra train ride. Enjoy the ride as a storyteller reads the magical story, "Polar Express" by Chris Van Allsburg. Santa will await your arrival at the North Pole and then join us aboard the train for milk and cookies. Due to the high popularity of this event, it will be listed in the Fall Brochure posted on this web site in early August.

Family Fun Nights

Bring your family to the Prairie View Community Center for 2 to 3 evenings of family fun! Enjoy organized games and activities. There is no admission fee however, proof of residency is required at check- in. Parents must accompany ALL children. This is a great opportunity to spend time with the kids in an enjoyable and active environment. Family Nights will be in January, February and March (schedule permitting) and are listed in the Winter Brochure that is posted on this web site in mid November.

Dads & Daughters Night

Ladies, spend a special evening with your Dad. Dinner, dancing and fun make this a night to remember. This event is held on a Saturday evening once a year in early February at the Prairie View Community Center for Kindergarten through 5th graders and their dads. This event will be listed in the Winter Brochure that is posted on this web site in mid November.

Mother Son Sport Night

Throw on those sports jerseys and join us for a friendly night of competition, between moms and sons. Each couple will keep a scorecard and compete in a basketball shoot-out, baseball throw, putting, soccer kick, football pass and more. Dinner will be served. This event is held once a year on a Saturday evening in early March at the Prairie View Community Center. This event will be listed in the Winter Brochure that is posted on this web site in mid November.

Spring Events

Prairie View 5K Run/Walk

Runners and walkers of all ages can enjoy this 3.1 mile Run and Fun Walk as it winds through the streets and forest preserve in Morton Grove on a Sunday in April. The racecourse is USTAF Certified (IL-01109-JW). Time splits will be at the 1 and 2 mile markers. Check-in is at 6:45 am. The run starts at 8:05 am and Fun Walk at 8:10 am. Awards will be given to the top 3 finishers in each male and female age category. Long sleeve T-Shirt guaranteed to all pre-registered participants. All participants welcome in post-race refreshment tent. This event will be listed in the Winter Brochure that is posted on this web site in mid November and the Spring Brochure posted in early February.

Eggstravaganza

This fun event is held on the Friday of Easter Weekend for children ages 2-10. Activities may include games, crafts and definitely a hunt for eggs. This event will be listed in the Spring Brochure posted in early February.

Come Play with Us!

Bring your family to the Prairie View Community Center for an evening of family fun. Games, activities, prizes, park district give-aways and valuable information will be at your fingertips. The evenings highlights will offer various sport and recreation experiences for children and adults. The event is held the last Saturday in April and provides opportunity to receive a copy of the Summer Brochure before it comes out to the public. Reminder come dressed to play! This event will be listed in the Spring Brochure posted in early February.

Spring Dance Recital

All participants in the Park District dance program will present the Spring Dance Show. Beginning in December, tickets may be purchased for Reserved Seating on a first come, first serve basis by our Registration Coordinator. Summer Events

Summer Concert Series

The Morton Grove Park District offers 5 to 6 evenings of exceptional musical entertainment each summer as part of its FREE Tunes on Tuesday summer concert series. Concerts are held on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 pm during the months of June and July. Concerts are held at Harrer Park either at the Pavilion in the north end of the park or at the Gazebo in the South end. Harrer Park is located at 6250 Dempster Street. At each concert, a different local restaurant is featured. You will find a complete listing of this years concert series in the summer brochure that will be posted on this web site in early May.

Friday Night Movies in the Park

Bring your blankets and lawn chairs to Harrer Park, 6250 Dempster Street, Morton Grove, for 3 evenings of free family fun. All movies are chosen to please the entire family. They will begin promptly at dark at the Harrer Park Pavilion. You will find a complete listing of this years movie series in the summer brochure that will be posted on this web site in early May.

Pool Special Events

Special events are held throughout the summer at the Districts 2 outdoor pools. Harrer Pool is located in Harrer Park at 6250 Dempster Street. Oriole Pool is located at 9200 Oriole Street. For a listing of all our summer pool events, check out our summer brochure. This brochure will be on the web site at the beginning of May.

Morton Grove Days 4th of July Celebration

On July 4th, the Community Parade kicks off at 2:30 pm from Central & Dempster and moves west to Harrer Park. Fireworks take place at Harrer Park at 9:30 pm. This event is held at Harrer Park, 6250 Dempster Street, Morton Grove. More information on our 4th of July Festival can be found in the Summer Brochure posted on this web site in early May.

Ice Cream Socials

Join representatives from the park district for a frosty treat! We will be at 3 neighborhood parks different parks each summer. Mark your calendars to stop by from 6:00-7:00pm to visit the playground and reacquaint your family with our beautiful parks. This event will be listed in the Summer Brochure posted in early May.

Fall Events
dads & daughters

Family Campout

Harrer Park will be the site for our family campout. Just bring your tent, camping equipment (sleeping bags, flashlights, etc.) and plan on having a great time close to home. There will be games, contests, prizes, a nighttime movie and lots of family fun. This is a great way to introduce the little ones to camping. More information on the family campout can be found in the Summer Brochure posted on this web site in early May and the Fall Brochure posted in early August.

Halloween Festival

The Morton Grove Park District and the Village of Morton Grove sponsors their annual Friday Night Halloween Family Festival for community children 2 - 11 years old at the Prairie View Community Center. This event is usually scheduled on the weekend before Halloween and includes games, prizes, goodie bags and a special Halloween guest. For reservations, call 1/847/965-1200.
